Muhammad Sedigh Kaboudvand, the prominent imprisoned Iranian Kurdish human rights campaigner had released a statement from his prison cell on the 23rd anniversary of Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou’s assassination titled “state terrorism is condemned”.
Part of the statement reads: “I, Muhammad Sedigh Kaboudvand, as a Kurdish political prisoner write these few sentences in circumstances where I have gone on hunger strike in protest to violation of rights and national and religious discrimination against all the Kurdish political prisoners. Therefore, on behalf of Kurdistan Human Rights Organization condemn the assassination of this freedom-loving activist, tireless democracy and Kurdish rights advocate, Dr. Abdulrahman Ghassemlou, then the General Secretary of Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and deem state and other forms of terrorism condemned and horrid.”
Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand, had gone on hunger strike in Evin prison since May 27th in protest to the refusal by prison authorities to grant him prison furlough to see his ailing son.
According to reports, Kaboudvand’s health is very poor and he has reportedly suffered two heart attacks in prison.
Kaboudvand is sentenced to a total of eleven years in prison.
