PDKI delegation meets with Austrian Social Democratic MP in Vienna
On Monday 24 November 2025, Mohammad Faqe Ali, the PDKI representative to Austria, and Munira Nigehdar, head of the party’s Austrian committee, met with Ms. Petra Bayr, an Austrian Social Democratic Party (SPÖ) MP and head of its international relations department.
The PDKI representatives briefed Ms Bayr on the deteriorating situation in Iranian Kurdistan, emphasising the increase in arrests and executions amid escalating regional tensions. They urged Austria and the SPÖ to support stronger international action against the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The PDKI delegation also emphasised the importance of recognising Iran’s multi-ethnic reality to ensure long-term stability and safeguard the rights of peoples of Iran.
During the discussions, the PDKI delegation discussed the living conditions of Kurds from Iranian Kurdistan who are now living in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. They explained that these Kurds have repeatedly been targeted by Iranian drone and missile attacks, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries. They called on Austria and the European Union to take concrete measures to protect Kurdish civilians, especially women and children, from further aggression.
In closing, Ms. Bayr expressed her gratitude for the visit and confirmed that the issues raised during the meeting would be given serious consideration. She also expressed her willingness to maintain ongoing communication with the PDKI’s representatives in Austria.
