Loghman H. Ahmedi, PDKI\u2019s head of foreign relations, was invited to the Swedish parliament to speak about the current situation in eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan and Iran\u2019s domestic and foreign policies.<\/p>\n
Ahmedi stressed that Iran\u2019s strategy in the Middle East is to create instability and conflict with the aim of becoming a regional hegemon. \u201cIran\u2019s interference in the internal affairs of countries like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen are examples of how Iran operates in the region. In Iraq for example, Iran uses different Shia militias to push forward its own interests in that country. The brutal war crimes and human rights violations of these Iranian controlled Shia militias are one of the reasons that a terrorist organisation like ISIS is tolerated amongst some Sunni Arabs\u201d, Ahmedi said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe notion that the Islamic Republic of Iran is less brutal or evil than ISIS is wrong. They share the same values and commit the same kinds of atrocities. The only difference is that ISIS uploads videos on YouTube and Iran censors all media coverage of its atrocities\u201d Ahmedi underlined.<\/p>\n
Ahmedi also spoke about the Iran\u2019s nuclear program and the efforts taking place to reach a nuclear agreement with the theocratic regime. \u201cIran is a threat to regional security and stability with or without a nuclear weapon. The regime uses these nuclear negotiations to shift focus away from the atrocities it is committing in both regional countries like Iraq and Syria and its crackdown on all forms of dissent in eastern Kurdistan and other regions like Baluchistan, Ahwaz and Azerbaijan\u201d Ahmedi said. \u201cRemoving sanctions and giving Iran incentives will only strengthen this regime, which in effect will make the regime even more aggressive in pursuing its brutal regional and domestic policies\u201d, Ahmedi added.<\/p>\n
In regard to the situation in Kurdistan, Ahmedi stressed that the Iranian regime has militarized Kurdistan and that more than one hundred Kurdish activists have been arrested in Kurdistan since the recent uprising in Mehabad occurred. Ahmedi mentioned that the situation in Mahabad and other Kurdish cities clearly indicates that the Kurdish people are tired of the Islamic republic of Iran. Furthermore, Ahmedi said that PDKI has deployed its Peshmerga force to the borders between eastern (Iranian) and southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan to support the Kurdish people and defend them from Iranian aggression. \u201cThere is a large possibility that Iran\u2019s Islamic revolutionary guards will clash with our Peshmerga forces. In such a situation, Europe should support the Kurdish people and PDKI Peshmergas forces\u201d, Ahmedi added.<\/p>\n
Ahmedi also added that Iran is attempting to interfere in the affairs of the Kurdish political parties from different parts of Kurdistan in order to sow discord and create conflict among them.<\/p>\n
Ahmedi concluded by underlining that Western countries should increase their pressure on Iran by supporting the democratic opposition, especially the Kurdish people, in order to prevent Iran from destabilize the region even more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
