Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps has for the past three days continuously shelled two locations outside the cities of Naghadeh and Mahabad in eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan. According to local sources, the shelling has caused great damage to the environment.<\/p>\n
Since the return of PDKI\u2019s Peshmerga Forces to eastern Kurdistan, Iran has resorted to shelling of Kurdistan\u2019s mountainous regions and forest areas, including civilian populated areas. It is a desperate and futile attempt to undermine popular support for the Peshmergas.<\/p>\n
The two areas, Sarshaxan and Landi Shexan, are two forest areas linking the two Kurdish cities of Mahabad and Naghadeh.<\/p>\n
According to data compiled by Kurdish environmental organizations, during the past six months there have been 630 cases of fire in the forests of Kurdistan.<\/p>\n
The majority of these fires are the result of Iranian military aggression against Kurdistan. In some cases, Iran\u2019s intelligence agency, which takes part in the war against PDKI\u2019s Peshmerga Forces, has instigated these fires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
