In a statement, PDKI calls on Kurdish political prisoner Mohammad Nazari, who has been imprisoned in Iran for 24 years without furlough, to end his hunger strike.<\/p>\n
PDKI also calls on human rights organizations to pressure the Iranian regime to release Nazari.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Nazari was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1994 in an unfair trial based on coerced confessions extracted through torture. His \u201ccrime\u201d, according to the Iranian regime, is advocacy for Kurdish rights and alleged cooperation with a Kurdish political party.<\/p>\n
According to the reactionary laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Nazari should have been released from prison years ago.<\/p>\n
Also, Mr. Nazari has called for a retrial in accordance with a law passed in 2013 in Iran, but has been denied a new trial.<\/p>\n
In protest, Mr. Nazari has gone on hunger strike. PDKI is deeply concerned about the well-being of Mr. Nazari and calls on him to end the hunger strike.<\/p>\n
PDKI also calls on human rights organizations and other concerned parties to put pressure on the Iranian regime to release Mr. Nazari from prison. His imprisonment is unjust and even constitutes a violation of the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran itself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
