The Central Command of Kurdistan\u2019s Peshmerga Forces issued a statement on yesterday\u2019s indiscriminate shelling of the border region between eastern (Iranian) and southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan by Iran.<\/p>\n
At approximately 11:00 in the morning (local time) on September 6, Iran\u2019s terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) shelled Piranshar in eastern Kurdistan as well as the Choman and Sidakan districts in southern Kurdistan. The shelling continued until 14:00 in the afternoon. Iran resumed the shelling at 17:00. The shelling continued until 23:48. <\/p>\n
Iran\u2019s terrorist IRGC has repeatedly shelled the border region between the two parts of Kurdistan with heavy artillery for the past three years, claiming to target the bases of Kurdistan Peshmerga Forces. <\/p>\n
\u201cKurdistan\u2019s Peshmerga Forces are deployed deep inside eastern Kurdistan, and yet, the terrorist regime of Iran uses the presence of the Peshmerga Forces in the border region as a pretext to shell the civilian populated areas in southern Kurdistan,\u201d the statement reads. <\/p>\n
Yesterday\u2019s shelling caused extensive damage to the environment and to the property of the local civilian population. <\/p>\n
