During the meeting, the PDKI representative provided an overview of the PDKI’s history and its role in Kurdish society. He also discussed the organization’s commitment to human rights, peaceful political engagement, and cooperation among all national minorities in Iran. Mr. Faqe-Ali raised concerns about the current situation in Kurdistan and Iran, including the Islamic Republic\u2019s increasing repression of activists, particularly Kurds, following the recent regional conflict.<\/p>\n
Despite decades of oppression, Mr. Faqe-Ali emphasized that Kurds have consistently demonstrated a commitment to democratic values. He cited the success of Kurdish self-governed regions as examples of governance based on freedom and the protection of minority rights. He expressed hope that, as a member of the EU and the UN, Austria would support Kurdish democratic aspirations as part of broader efforts to promote stability and democratization in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
