Baluchistan People’s Party’s statement on the 35th Martyrdom Anniversary of Dr. A R. Ghassemlou
With respect to the blood of all Kurdish warriors who bravely stood up against the criminals of the Islamic Republic of Iran for freedom, equality, and the attainment of human and historical national rights of the Kurdish nation.
Among them, the martyrs of the proud Kurdish nation rooted in the historic Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, hold an important place who have always fought for the national sovereignty of the Kurdish people since its inception in 1945.
On July 13, 1989, the agents of the terrorist Islamic regime of Iran, in a pre-planned plot, assassinated Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, the Secretary-General of the Democratic Party of the Iranian Kurdistan, along with Abdullah Ghaderi Azar, a member of the central committee representing the party abroad, and Dr. Fazel Rasul, a university professor in Vienna.
The capable and charismatic personality of the martyr Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, the leader of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, who was martyred along with his companions by the terrorist regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran, remains a shining star through dark nights, guiding the democracy, freedom, and equality seekers. His memory will eternally remain in the hearts of those who campaign for the trampled rights of the oppressed and marginalized nations in the last hundred years of Iran’s history.
The assassination of Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou was orchestrated by the highest officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, due to his influence on the justice-seeking movement of the Kurdish and other sympathetic nations, after the eight-year Iran-Iraq war, using their overseas proxy terrorists.
In the face of such assassination in Europe, it was expected that prominent European governments would stop or reduce their diplomatic and commercial relations with the Islamic Republic. Unfortunately, their appeasement led to the assassination of his successor, Dr. Sharafkandi, and his comrades in Berlin on September 17, 1992, by the terrorist regime of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
At this juncture of history, where the slogan of “Women, Life, Freedom” originating from Kurdistan, and spreading throughout Iran, a widespread solidarity among diverse people within Iran, has fostered a fresh ground for the voluntary peaceful coexistence in Iran.
The rise of political movement in Kurdistan and among other oppressed nations led to the creation of the “Congress of Nationalities for a Federal Iran” and the alignment of significant progressive forces across Iran addressing the oppression of marginalized nationalities through a democratic, secular, federal structure, resulted the birth of “Broad Solidarity for Freedom and Equality in Iran.”
Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou was among the wise leaders of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, who possessed the highest leadership qualities to be a party leader. He managed the party for over a decade developing it to a powerful and a strategically purposeful political asset for the heroic Kurdish nation, entrusted to his loyal comrades.
The memory of the esteemed leader of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, martyr Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, will live forever, his memory honored, and his path followed.
