Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran Representative Meets Members of the European Parliament
On Thursday, 15 January 2026, Hesam Dastpish, the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI) representative to the European Union, held a meeting with Mr. Daniel Attard, Member of the European Parliament and Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Iran, as well as Ms. Avin Incir, Member of the European Parliament.
The meeting focused on a number of key issues related to the political and human rights situation in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan. During the discussions, serious concern was expressed over the ongoing killings carried out by the Islamic Republic and its repressive forces. It was emphasized that the current situation represents a continuation and escalation of systematic state violence and oppression, marked by increasing mass executions, widespread arrests, and enforced disappearances. In this context, the need for a firm and decisive response to the Islamic Republic was underscored, and high expectations were placed on Europe to take meaningful action.
The future of Iran was another central topic of the meeting. The PDKI representative stressed that Iran’s future must not be shaped in a one-sided or imposed manner. Pro-democracy forces must play an active and practical role, and no single voice should dominate the political landscape. It was highlighted that Iran is a multi-national, multi-dimensional, and multi-regional country, and any vision for its future must reflect this diversity.
The PDKI representative also highlighted the responsibilities of the European Parliament in confronting the Islamic Republic. These include adopting clear resolutions, designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, and providing concrete support to pro-democracy movements and voices, including those from Kurdistan and other regions.
Members of the European Parliament raised questions during the meeting, which were addressed in detail by the PDKI representative.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the party’s representative emphasized the importance of moving beyond dialogue toward practical measures. Decisions were taken on specific steps, with efforts planned to implement them in the coming days and months. Finally, the PDKI representative called for increased engagement by Members of the European Parliament and EU institutions in supporting the pro-democracy front in Iran, while simultaneously strengthening efforts to confront the policies and actions of the Islamic Republic.
