Meeting at French National Assembly Highlights Situation in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan
On Wednesday, 14 January, Kani Jahangiri, the PDKI representative to France, held a meeting at the French National Assembly in Paris with Ana Pigue, a Socialist Party parliamentarian; Dylan Boutiflat, the National Secretary of the Socialist Party for International Relations; and Geneviève Garrigos, a member of the 20th District Council of Paris and former president of Amnesty International France.
During the meeting, Ms Jahangiri spoke about the current situation in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan, as well as the consequences of the violence perpetrated by the Islamic Republic against Kurds and other oppressed ethnic groups in Iran.
Two documents were presented during the meeting. The first was a joint call by political parties in Eastern Kurdistan for strikes in support of the ongoing protests, alongside a renewed emphasis on the demand for a democratic Iran. The second document focused on the victims of the protests, highlighting the disproportionately high number of Kurdish victims, including many minors.
Ms Pigue, Mr Boutiflat and Ms Garrigos expressed their concern about the situation in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan, reaffirming their support for the peoples of Iran, especially the oppressed nations in the country, such as Kurds and Balochs.
