PDKI Representative Meets French Senator to Discuss the Situation in Kurdistan Region in Iran
On Thursday, January 8, 2026, Kani Jahangiri, the PDKI representative to France, met with Senator Rémi Féraud to discuss the current situation in Iran, with particular attention to the condition of Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan.
During the meeting, the PDKI representative outlined the political and human rights situation in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan, emphasizing the consequences of the Islamic Republic’s repressive policies toward Kurds and other oppressed nations in the country.
Senator Féraud was presented with two documents. The first was a joint call by political parties of Eastern Kurdistan for strikes in support of the ongoing protests, alongside a renewed emphasis on the demand for a democratic Iran. The second document focused on the victims of the protests, highlighting the disproportionately high number of Kurdish victims, including many minors.
Following the meeting, Senator Rémi Féraud shared a message on social media in which he openly expressed his support. He stressed that the Kurds have been at the forefront of the popular uprising and are among the primary victims of repression in Iran. He also called for continued support for the Kurdish people in the aftermath of the collapse of the current Islamist regime.
Senator Féraud’s position represents a strong political signal and contributes to raising awareness within French governmental institutions about the situation of the Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan.
