A Delegation of Iranian Nationalities Met With Congressman Steve King
A delegation from the Congress of Nationalities for a Federal Iran (CNFI) met with Congressman Steve King on October 5 to seek support for a federal and democratic vision for Iran’s future.
The delegation consisted of Arash Saleh, PDKI’s representative in the USA, Nasser Boladai, secretary general of the Baluchistan People Party, and Karim Abdian, head of foreign relations committee of the Democratic Solidarity Party of Ahwaz.
The visit demonstrates that progress CNFI has made in convening the largest coalition of Iranian opposition groups.
Each respective member of the delegation informed Congressman King on the latest developments in Baluchistan, Ahwaz (Arabistan of Iran), and eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan.
All of them highlighted that CNFI’s vision is in line with the long-term interests of the United States in the Middle East, namely to end Iran’s destabilizing role in the region and turn it into a constructive actor. This, Mr. Saleh, Mr. Boladi and Mr. Abdian emphasized, requires a political formula to ensure that Iran is at peace with itself. This, in turn, is contingent on the adoption of a federal and democratic system of government that reflects and respects Iran’s multinational nature.
Congressman King expressed his hope for progress with respect to the reaching the democratic and peaceful goals of CNFI. He also mentioned the independence referendum in southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan and pointed out that the quest for the right to self-determination is gaining momentum among the people of the region.
