PDKI Delegation Meets Australian Senator David Shoebridge
On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, a PDKI delegation in Australia, led by Mr. Salah Pourasad, held an online meeting with Senator David Shoebridge of the Australian Greens. Senator Shoebridge oversees the Greens’ portfolios of external relations, security and defense, and multicultural affairs in the Australian Senate.
He has long supported the Kurdish people in all four parts of Kurdistan. Over the past year or two, especially following the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising, he has strengthened his ties with Kurds in Eastern Kurdistan and with members of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.
During the meeting, the PDKI delegation asked Senator Shoebridge to advocate for human rights issues in the Senate and address the oppression and violence committed by the Islamic Republic against the peoples of Iran, particularly the Kurdish nation.
The delegation presented data on the execution and imprisonment of Kurds, as well as the repression that followed the recent 12-day conflict. Senator Shoebridge reaffirmed his commitment to defending Kurdish rights and noted his previous work on the Kurdish issue in the Senate.
The delegation thanked Senator Shoebridge for supporting the designation of the IRGC as a state sponsor of terrorism and for backing the expulsion of Iranian regime diplomats. Senator Shoebridge pledged his continued support and expressed his readiness to help organize future seminars in the Australian Parliament.
In closing, the PDKI members called for ongoing communication and more frequent meetings regarding the situation in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran.
