PDKI Leader Hijri Sends Condolences to Talabani’s Family

PDKI’s leader Mustafa Hijri issued a statement following the passing away of Jalal Talabani, a prominent Kurdish leader and former Iraqi president.

Below is the English translation of the statement:

Mam Jalal Talabani was a prominent personality who played an important role in fighting for the rights of the Kurdish nation in southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan, both as a guerrilla leader and a renowned politician.

The passing away of Mam Jalal in this delicate and critical period in southern Kurdistan is a great loss.

For us too as PDKI, the passing away of Mam Jalal is a great loss. We have lost a longstanding and loyal friend, whose friendship with us was established during the time of our martyred leader Dr. Ghassemlou.

I send my deepest condolences to the Kurdish nation as well as to the leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and in particular to Talabani’s family – his widow Hero Ibrahim Ahamad and his two sons Pavel and Qubad.
