PDKI Representative and Former Finnish Minister Discussed Reactivation of Kurdish Parliamentary Committee
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Shehin Zadahmad, the PDKI representative to Finland, held an online meeting with Paavo Arhinmäki, the former Finnish Minister of Culture, an adviser to the Council of Ministers of the Left Party, and a founding member of the Kurdish Parliamentary Committee.
The discussion focused on the Kurdish issue in general, with particular attention given to Eastern Kurdistan. Though the Kurdish Parliamentary Committee had been inactive for years, recent regional developments and the ongoing importance of Kurdish issues, especially in Eastern Kurdistan, have emphasized the need to reactivate the committee within the Finnish Parliament.
The proposal to reactivate the committee was well-received. Shehin Zadahmed was chosen to coordinate the formation of a bilateral team consisting of Kurdish representatives and Finnish parliamentarians. The team will be responsible for sharing information and facilitating joint efforts on issues related to the Kurdish cause.
Reactivating the committee is seen as an important step toward strengthening the cooperation and dialogue between the Kurdish community in Finland and Finnish parliamentarians.
