PDKI Representative Attends Book Launch at Austrian Parliament Highlighting Iran’s Crisis
On Sunday, January 11, 2026, Mohammed Faqih Ali, the PDKI representative to Austria, attended the official book launch of “Iran’s Hostage Diplomacy: 2707 Days in Evin Prison” by Karan Qader. The event was held in one of the halls of the Austrian Parliament, following a formal invitation from Petra Bayr, Member of Parliament for the Austrian Social Democratic Party and head of its international relations.
Several Austrian parliamentarians took part in the ceremony, including representatives from the Liberal Democratic Party, the Green Party, the Christian Democratic Party, and the Social Democratic Party. They spoke about the content of the book and the current political situation in Iran, followed by discussions and remarks from attendees focusing on Iran’s ongoing crisis.
The PDKI representative addressed the audience, congratulating the author on the publication and emphasizing that the current uprising has spread across all of Iran. He highlighted the resistance of unarmed civilians against state violence and expressed hope for stronger, unified dialogue between Kurdish political forces and international partners in the near future.
He also criticized past European, particularly Austrian, policies toward the Islamic Republic, noting that failure to firmly address earlier acts of terrorism—such as the assassination of Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou—contributed to continued impunity. He stressed that any support for Iran’s democratic movement must recognize Iran as a multi-ethnic, multicultural, and multi-religious society, and that a post–Islamic Republic Iran must not return to dictatorship or fascism.
At the conclusion of the event, the party representative met with the participating parliamentarians to exchange views on the current situation in Kurdistan and Iran and to discuss future steps. The event was widely attended by Austrians, Iranians, and Kurds, many of whom engaged directly with the Kurdish Democratic Party’s representative.
