PDKI Representative Meets Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
On December 1, 2025, Mohammad Faqe-Ali, the PDKI representative to Austria, met with Dr. Eva-Maria Ziegler at the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the PDKI representative provided an overview of the PDKI’s history and its role in Kurdish society. He also discussed the organization’s commitment to human rights, peaceful political engagement, and cooperation among all national minorities in Iran. Mr. Faqe-Ali raised concerns about the current situation in Kurdistan and Iran, including the Islamic Republic’s increasing repression of activists, particularly Kurds, following the recent regional conflict.
Despite decades of oppression, Mr. Faqe-Ali emphasized that Kurds have consistently demonstrated a commitment to democratic values. He cited the success of Kurdish self-governed regions as examples of governance based on freedom and the protection of minority rights. He expressed hope that, as a member of the EU and the UN, Austria would support Kurdish democratic aspirations as part of broader efforts to promote stability and democratization in the Middle East.
Dr. Ziegler thanked Mr. Faqe-Ali for his visit and the information he shared. She expressed interest in continuing such discussions. She assured him that she would support human rights, protect civilians, and encourage democratic development in the region within her diplomatic scope.
