PDKI Representative Meets with the Secretary-General of the Party of European Socialists
On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Hisam Dastpish, the representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran to the European Union, met with Mr Giacomo Filibeck, Secretary-General of the Party of European Socialists.
The meeting was held to discuss several key issues related to the situation in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan. Three main themes were addressed: the overall situation in Iran, the ongoing uprisings, and the situation in Kurdistan.
During the meeting, reference was made to the killing of civilians by the Islamic Republic, which continues to escalate its campaign of mass violence, while arrests and enforced disappearances persist unabated. It was emphasized that the Islamic Republic must be confronted firmly and decisively, and that progressive and democratic forces must assume a clear, active, and responsible role in this process.
The future of Iran was another major topic of discussion. It was stressed that this future must not be one-sided or imposed. Democratic forces must play an active and practical role, and Iran should not have only one dominant voice. The responsibilities of the European Parliament in confronting the Islamic Republic were also discussed in this context.
The party representative responded to questions, and at the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Filibeck emphasized the importance of taking practical action. He also spoke about the ongoing efforts and plans of the European Socialists.
