PDKI Representative Participates in European Parliament Delegation Meeting regarding the humanitarian situation in Iran
On Monday, January 26, 2026, Mr. Hesam Dastpish, representative of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan to the European Union, participated in a meeting of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Iran. The session focused on the human rights situation in Iran, with particular attention to the plight of national minorities.
The meeting was chaired by Hannah Neumann, Chair of the Delegation, and Daniel Attard, Vice-Chair. During the session, Farina Baluch addressed the situation in Balochistan, while Sardar Pashaei, from the Hope Human Rights Organization, discussed conditions in eastern Kurdistan. Mahmoud Amiry-Moghaddam, from Iran Human Rights, spoke about the scale of ongoing repression.
In another segment, MEPs Hildegard Bentele and Evin Incir continued the discussion by questioning representatives from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for External Relations and the European External Action Service (EEAS) about actions already taken on Iran and future plans. The Commission and EEAS responded, reaffirming that efforts to address Iran’s behavior remain ongoing.
A key focus was the potential designation of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the EU’s terrorist list. Participants noted Italy’s recent shift in position, and it was indicated that the matter will be raised at the upcoming meeting of EU Foreign Ministers. However, France and Spain have yet to give their approval.
In conclusion, Hannah Neumann wrapped up the session by highlighting the European Parliament’s recent resolution, which references the role of the opposition and calls for practical measures against the Islamic Republic.
