Yesterday a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan, killing several hundred Kurds and injuring thousand others.
The epicenter of the earthquake was near the Kurdish city of Salasi Bawajani in the Kermanshan province. This is the biggest earthquake to hit eastern Kurdistan.
According to preliminary reports, over 500 people were killed and more than 6000 people have been injured in the earthquake.
PDKI reminds the international community that the Kurdish people in the region affected by the earthquake were already in a vulnerable situation, facing poverty and Iranian oppression.
