PDKI Welcomes Australia’s Designation of IRGC as a State Sponsor of Terrorism
In a joint statement issued on 27 November 2025, the Australian Minister for Home Affairs and the Attorney General officially designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of the Iranian regime as a state sponsor of terrorism.
This decision followed attacks on several centres and institutions in Australia in 2024 for which the IRGC was found to be responsible. In fact, the IRGC has not only been a sponsor, but has also carried out hundreds of direct and indirect terrorist operations inside and outside Iran since the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Indeed, it can be considered the world’s largest terrorist organisation.
We strongly support the decision of the Australian government and judiciary, as we believe it demonstrates a realistic approach. At the same time, we hope that other democratic Western countries, particularly those in the European Union, will follow suit, as several others — including the United States, Canada and Belgium — already have.
This step would create a barrier against the state terrorism carried out by the IRGC, which operates under the direct command of Ali Khamenei, the Iranian regime’s leader. This would contribute to greater international security and stability.
