Rasol Mehamadzadeh, A PDKI Peshmerga, Martyred in Battle with IS in Mosul
The Operational Command of PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces announced earlier today that Rasol Mehamadzadeh, a loyal and brave Peshmerga, was martyred in battle with the Islamic State (IS) in Mosul.
Since the beginning of the operation to liberate Mosul, a special unit of PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces consisting of bomb disposal experts and commandos, have aided the Peshmerga Forces of southern (Iraqi) Kurdistan. This is the second time PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces participate in the war against IS. The first time PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces took part in the war against IS was in august 2014.
It is with great sorrow that we announce that Rasol Mehamadzadeh, one of our most beloved and appreciated Peshmergas, lost his life today, October 26, in battle with the IS in the operation to liberate Mosul.
Rasol Mehamadzadeh was born in the village of Saif Away close to the city of Saghez in eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan. He joined PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces in 2000. He earned a Master’s degree in history at the University of Salahaddin in southern Kurdistan and later served as an adviser to the leadership of PDKI. He was responsible for the Training and Education Committee of the Peshmerga Forces. Rasol Mehamadzadeh is the second martyr of his family.
During his time in the ranks of PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces, Rasol Mehamadzadeh contributed greatly with his determination and skills to the struggle against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Unfortunately, he was martyred in the war against the terrorist group known as IS.
As a secular and democratic party, we are committed to fighting terrorism, whether it is the state terrorism of the Islamic Republic of Iran or the terrorism of non-state actors like IS. PDKI is also committed to supporting other parts of Kurdistan in the face of threats to the Kurdish nation.
PDKI is sending its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rasol Mehamadzadeh.
