Seminar in the UK on the Current Situation in Iran
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, a seminar on the current situation in Iran was held in the United Kingdom, organized by MP Luke Akehurst, a long-standing friend of the Kurdish people and, in particular, of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (PDKI). The event featured remarks by Razgar Alani, the PDKI representative to the UK.
In his presentation, Mr Alani briefed participants on the latest developments in Iran, particularly in Iranian Kurdistan, and emphasized that the ongoing protests reflect deep political and social oppression rather than purely economic problems. He noted that protesters across Iran are demanding freedom, justice, and accountability.
He also outlined the PDKI’s vision for a future Iran based on federalism, describing it as the most suitable framework for a democratic country and reaffirming the party’s readiness to cooperate with all democratic forces that recognize the rights of Kurds and other oppressed peoples.
In conclusion, the PDKI representative called on the UK government to take stronger measures against the Iranian regime, including closing Iran’s embassy, freezing regime assets, and designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization, while increasing support for Iranian protesters and the opposition. The seminar ended with a brief question-and-answer session.
