Statement on Clashes Between Peshmerga Forces and IRGC

Clashes between PDKI’s Peshmerga Forces and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps erupted on September 18, 2016, around 20:00 local time in the Mokrian region of eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan. The clashes continued in the villages of of Qabrihussein and Prdanan until the morning of September 19. More than 10 IRGC soldiers, including two commanders, were killed or injured in the clashes said the Peshmerga Forces Operational Command in a statement today.
Unfortunately, Rahim Abdullahnejad, a brave Peshmerga who was severely injured during the clashes, lost his life today. The Peshmerga Forces buried Abdullahnejad in eastern Kurdistan.
The PDKI sends its deepest condolences to Abdullahnejad’s family, friends and fellow Peshmergas. We are confident that people in the region will continue in the path of Abdullahnejad and intensify the struggle for freedom and a dignified life.
