Twelve IRGC Terrorists Killed and Eight Injured in Clashes with Kurdistan’s Peshmerga Forces

The Central Command of Kurdistan’s Peshmerga Forces issued a statement regarding clashes with Iran’s terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on 11 August, 2018, which occurred on Mount Kelashin outside the Kurdish city of Shno (Oshnavieh) in eastern (Iranian) Kurdistan.
Around 01:00 on 11 August, 2018, a Peshmerga platoon was ambushed by a large force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on Mount Kelashin. During the ensuing battle, which lasted for five hours, twelve members of the IRGC were killed and eight others were severely injured.
The Peshmerga platoon was attacked from three sides. Unfortunately, one Peshmerga was martyred in the first wave of attacks and three others were injured. Due to the lack of opportunity to transfer the three injured Peshmergas and following a heroic battle that lasted for more than two hours, the three injured Peshmergas took their own lives with hand grenades.
The remaining Peshmergas managed to breach the ambush and flank the enemy, killing and injuring several IRGC terrorists. Unfortunately, two other Peshmergas were martyred in the counterattack.
In the ensuing battle, which lasted for close to three hours, at least twelve IRGC members were confirmed dead and eight others were severely injured. The Peshmerga Forces managed to push back the enemy on several fronts. However, the IRGC, once defeated by the Peshmergas, resorted to shelling the Peshmerga positions. As a result, two other Peshmergas were injured. After a heroic five-hour battle against a large IRGC force, the remaining Peshmergas made a tactical withdrawal from the battleground.
Of the six Peshmergas that were martyred in this clash, two served in an Urban Peshmerga Unit.
The names of the martyred Peshmergas are as follows:
Abdulsalam Abdi
Suleiman Mohamedzadeh
Abdulwahid Sohrabi
Ismail Eranmensh
Osman Rahmani (Served in an Urban Peshmerga Unit)
Mehran Tehapor (Served in an Urban Peshmerga Unit)
The Central Command of Kurdistan’s Peshmerga Forces vowes to avenge the martyred Peshmergas and to continue the struggle against the Islamist regime until victory is achieved.
PDKI sends its deepest condolences to the martyred Peshmergas’ families, friends, fellow Peshmergas, and the people of Kurdistan.
